	NEBULA LANDSCAPES Tile landscapes inspired from recent images from Hubble Telescope.
	Clay Landscapes The tile became a plain canvas from which emerged a three dimensional landscape from the wet formless clay, its final texture left dry and somewhat earthy. Fractionalizing or slicing an image into its component elements originated from my love of Asian art and that perspective of a Chinese screen. Each panel (tile) has its own value here, yet is part of a larger more complete clay landscape inspired from locations in my native New England.
	Raku Raku describes a 16th century firing technique whereby the ware was abruptly removed from the hot kiln and scorched in water. The Raku tea bowls of that period were steeped in philosophy that spoke of nature and an embrace of spontaneity in the process. Rick Epstein has spent years crafting his “Slip Resist” or “Naked Raku”vessels. The results are always one of a kind - ranging from crackle glazes to richly colorful metallic luster.
