Workshops

I teach Raku workshops at schools and clay studios throughout the northeast. A Raku firing is a wonderful opportunity for the student to gain first hand knowledge of not only the process, but ceramic principles of glazing, glaze melt, oxidation vs. reduction firing etc.. It is a fast firing(1800.F.) and the resulting Raku surfaces are both immediate and one of a kind.

Based on your circumstances, I can provide everything you need for a day of firing including kiln, fuel, glazes, reduction containers and materials. Typically I try to fit in 4-5 firings and in between lead discussions on contemporary raku today.

All in all the day will take on a fast pace of glazing, loading, firing and unloading pieces from the hot kiln. Each student will be hands on in the process and learn quickly as results are reviewed. You will end your workshop not only with your new pieces in hand but with an in depth introduction to this wonderful firing technique.
